APPROACH
This is my take on the assignment for rhyming pairs, in which my pairs were Soggy Froggy and Combat Cat, which are two of my favorite animals so I wanted to have fun with the project but underestimated how difficult it would be to depict the word 'soggy'. The most successful sketches for Combat Cat were the imagery with traditional army gear, and for the final composition a close up on the face was the best to create a serious atmosphere. Collage for Soggy Froggy was optimal to try different ways to depict soggy, such as the use of food metaphors or water.
Then, I narrowed it down to four rough drafts. I liked the comparison of food used to describe soggy. The combat gear and soldier attitude best suited combat cat.

After getting feedback, I decided the realism of soggy froggy did not read well enough as soggy and switched up the final design to be more collage, then cleaned up my final for combat cat in Illustrator.
